Slip Repair
In early 2017 a large slip occurred on multiple properties located in Liston Crescent, Cockle Bay. A wastewater pipe and manhole are situated very close to the slip area, so emergency action was required in order to protect the Watercare asset and prevent further damage to private property.
The soil conditions were unfavourable and the slip was located adjacent to a major watercourse. In order to stabilise the slope, a typical cantilevered retaining wall wasn’t going to cut it. A retaining wall was designed with soil anchors extending 12 metres behind the wall into the competent sandstone. A rock toe was installed at the base of the wall to prevent further erosion and undercutting by the adjacent stream.
