Our work on Stage 1 of the Waitakere Resource Recovery Park reflects our commitment to environmental responsibility, operational efficiency, and community engagement. Stage 1 included the development of a new shop building, a construction and demolition (C&D) shop, and a workshop.
Site Layout and Accessibility
Our design prioritizes seamless operations and accessibility for both customers and staff. We implemented optimized entry and exit points with separate lanes for delivery trucks and customers to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion. Dedicated parking and loading areas were strategically planned to accommodate visitors and streamline logistics for efficient material handling. To ensure durability and sustainability, we incorporated robust foundations engineered to suit local soil conditions, providing long-term stability for all structures.
The roading and pavement solutions for the project focused on durability, safety, and sustainability. Heavy-duty pavements were designed to support the movement of delivery trucks and heavy machinery, while high-quality asphalt and concrete mixes were used to ensure longevity and reduce maintenance requirements. Traffic management features, including clearly marked lanes, pedestrian crossings, and speed control measures, were incorporated to enhance safety for all users.
Water Management
To mitigate flooding, enhance water conservation, and maintain compliance with environmental standards, we implemented a comprehensive stormwater management system. Swales and rain gardens were introduced to slow, capture, and filter stormwater runoff, while rainwater harvesting systems were installed to collect roof runoff for reuse. Additionally, stormwater treatment devices, including proprietary filter systems, were integrated to remove contaminants before water entered natural waterways. A well-designed stormwater network efficiently manages and directs stormwater, preventing erosion and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Our wastewater management strategies are designed to minimise environmental impact and comply with regulatory requirements. A dedicated wastewater network was installed to safely collect, convey, and dispose of wastewater. Ensuring a reliable and efficient water supply was also critical to the operation and safety of the recycling centre. Our design included a potable water supply system connected to municipal water mains and on-site treatment facilities to provide safe drinking water for staff and visitors. Water storage tanks were installed to reserve an adequate supply for daily operations and emergency needs, while fire hydrants and sprinkler systems were strategically placed to meet safety regulations and protect facilities.
As part of our sustainability-focused approach, we integrated sustainable landscaping practices by utilizing native, drought-resistant plants to reduce water consumption and support local biodiversity.
