DEBBIE Rippon
I joined ACH in 2008 straight out of high school, as the receptionist and after much learning over many years to found myself appointed Director in 2022. ACH and I have grown together over this time, and I know the place like the back of my hand. I’ve poured my heart into this (what was) little business, and helped it grow in size to the point where we’ve had to build a new office to accommodate our expanding workforce.
Over my time at ACH, I have continued to pursue my own professional development, including completing a Graduate Diploma in Business from Massey University, the Women in Leadership Advanced Leadership Programme and becoming a Member of the Institute of Directors. These opportunities have given me even more tools with which to foster the success of the company. I have worked to gain certification for our Health and Safety practices, as well as ISO 9001 and 14001 compliance for our Quality and Environmental Management systems.
While I am not an engineer myself, over the past years I have been soaking up all the industry has to offer and have a much greater respect for the work that goes into our infrastructure and developments across Auckland and the country. I am now an Affiliate Member with Engineering NZ.
In terms of pushing ACH to be even more successful and to provide the best service, I think it’s absolutely key to have the right people on board. People who value clients, people who are proud of their work, people who are willing to invest in growing the next generation of engineers. I am constantly on the lookout for exceptional people who can help us grow that culture. It is our attitude towards our people which has seen us awarded Employer of the Year through the Westpac Business Awards in 2020. 2021 and 2022.
Outside of work, I love to dance and love to spend time in my garden where I can recharge, tending to many veges, fruit trees and a small flock of chooks.
