PETER ALDERTON
Chartered Professional Engineer, BE, MIPENZ
As the longest serving member of ACH, I started working alongside our founder Geoff Dainty back in 1986 as a design engineer. After more than 30 years of hard work, myself and the partners here are extremely happy with how the firm has developed.
I started my engineering career at the Waitakere City Council before gaining some overseas experience with a consultancy in London and a construction company in West Sussex. My time overseas gave me exposure to many large scale projects, a wide range of building types and construction methodologies.
Currently, I service our insurance industry clients with structural and forensic engineering services.
Through our many years of experience and depth of knowledge we have become a go-to firm for forensic investigations for all major insurance companies operating locally. I find the detective work involved in determining the causes and effects of any damage to building assets interesting and challenging.
I think, when it comes to engineering, that it's important to understand the big picture and the people who we are working for. If we can understand the overall goals and ambitions of those who we work for, we can be sure to provide them the most beneficial designs and service. Plus, any excuse to get out to lunch or for a quick boat trip in the sun and discuss your projects and plans, is right up my alley.
